Warm Welcome

Organic estate & countryside heritage

Welcome to La Frattina, our farmhouse embraced by the rolling hills of the Crete Senesi and the gentle landscapes leading toward the Val d'Orcia. This corner of Tuscany has been our refuge and our inspiration — a place where time slows, the light softens, and nature invites you to simply breathe.

Meet your hosts

Louise, from Sweden, and Alberto, from Italy, first met in Rome many years ago. What began as a brief encounter grew into a lasting bond, reconnecting them long after life had taken them in different directions.

In 2014, they discovered La Frattina and fell in love with the land’s quiet beauty. Leaving their corporate jobs behind, they restored the farmhouse with care and dedication. Today, Louise tends the gardens and creative details, while Alberto brings his craftsmanship — and his passion for cooking — to the heart of the home.

Together, they welcome you to a place shaped by warmth, simplicity, and the peaceful rhythm of Tuscan country life.

Enjoy our outdoor swimming pool, Finnish sauna, Swedish hot tub with cold shower, and garden seating areas thoughtfully placed to invite relaxation. For those wanting a more active stay, we are happy to recommend professional local e-bike rental companies, with scenic farm-to-bike trails beginning right at your doorstep.

Whether wandering through the olive groves, joining us for the annual olive harvest, or simply tending to fruit trees and the vegetable garden, we invite you to reconnect with the simple, grounding joy of life on the land—a true ‘home away from home.

Who La Frattina is for

La Frattina is for travellers who wish to slow down and experience Tuscany with time, curiosity and care.
It is not a quick stopover, but a peaceful countryside retreat to settle into — with quiet mornings, gardens, pool, local wine, handmade pasta, seasonal dinners, and the rhythm of rural life.
For those who value quality, tranquillity, authenticity and the story behind a place, La Frattina offers something personal and memorable.

If you are looking for peace, beauty, good food, meaningful hospitality and time to simply be, La Frattina may be exactly the place for you.

The Farm

Situated on 4 hectares of olive groves, fruit trees, herbs, and vegetables, La Frattina is a registered organic farm dedicated to producing exceptional olive oil. With 480 trees and our own irrigation pond, every step—from orchard to table—reflects our commitment to quality.

Around La Frattina, the garden changes with the seasons — flowers, herbs, vegetables, fruit trees, bees and quiet corners for sitting outdoors. It is part of the rhythm of the house: what grows here often finds its way to the breakfast table, into our home-kitchen dinners, or simply into the atmosphere guests enjoy during their stay.

History of the property

Built in the early 17th century as a brickworks, La Frattina carries a long and meaningful history. Over time, it transformed from a humble workshop into a functioning farm with living quarters. Animals were once kept downstairs, while the farmer and family lived above in the warmth of the upper floor.

The property was abandoned in the 1980s, resting in silence for decades until 2015, when Louise and Alberto discovered it and envisioned its revival. Through dedicated restoration—guided by craftsmanship, care, and countless hours of work—the farmhouse has been lovingly brought back to life.

Today, La Frattina stands as a welcoming retreat, ready to embrace guests seeking the quiet beauty and timeless charm of the Tuscan countryside.
